PSL’s second draft delayed until March 4. The Pakistan Super League will offer their teams new players through a fresh PSL Draft on Saturday, March 4. According to an earlier decision made by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the entire tournament, barring the final was to be played in UAE. It was only the final of this edition of the PSL that was to be hosted in the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
However, a bomb blast hit Lahore on February 13, killing 13 lives and that meant there were understandable fear that overseas players might pull out of the competition if they had to feature in the final of the competition.
Speaking to a Pakistan TV channel, PSL chairman Najam Sethi has now announced that the teams who are not able to convince their overseas players to play in Pakistan for the final, will be allowed to select new players through this Draft that will be held in a week’s time.
He added: “We will put a formula in front of all the franchises and foreign players to let us know who will play the final in Lahore and who will not come.”
The PSL chairman also said the tournament organisers were in touch with players who did not want to play the final in Lahore, so that they could replace them. Earlier, the PCB had agreed to provide heavy security to players in order to entice them to play in the final in Lahore, including giving them an option to fly in to the country on the day of the final and fly out immediately after the match.
More news on this PSL Draft is awaited.
