Quetta Gladiators vs Lahore Qalandars Vs (LQ vs QG) Predictions is placed here. The second game of the second edition of Pakistan Super League will be played on Friday, February 10 with the Lahore Qalandars taking on Quetta Gladiators. This game will be played in Dubai as well. This game will kick start at 3.30 pm local time (11.30 am GMT or 4.30 pm Pakistan time).
Lahore Qalandars to win
Quetta Gladiators Team: Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Umar Gul, Asad Shafiq, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Nawaz, Kevin Pietersen, Luke Wright, Rilee Rossouw, Mahmudullah Riyad, Anwar Ali, Tymal Mills, Hassan Khan, Nathan McCullum, Thisara Perera, Bismillah Khan, Mir Hamza, Zulfiqar Babar, Saad Nasim, Umar Amin, Noor Wali
The Qalandars have a lot to prove if they want to shrug off their poor performance from the previous season and go right to the distance. Lahore had finished with just four points from eight games in PSL 1 and finished fifth in the points table which meant that they failed to qualify for the playoffs. That will need to change if the Qalandars want to deliver something for their fans.
Up against them will be the Quetta Gladiators who surprised a lot of fans by marching into the final of the previous season but their progress was halted by a strong Islamabad United team who defeated them to win the title. Still, the Gladiators will feel satisfied having made the title-decider and ending runner-up. Can they go one better, however, is what will need to be seen.
New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum will lead the Lahore Qalandars in this season and they will be happy for that to happen given how McCullum led the Brisbane Heat in the recent Big Bash League. McCullum, like was the case during his time as New Zealand skipper, was aggressive with his captaincy and attacking with his batting – and that is a combination that should hold Lahore in a good stead.
Also in the side will be Azhar Ali, who has struggled with white ball cricket but will be a useful lieutenant to McCullum even as the likes of Sunil Narine and Yasir Shah look to spin the opposition out. Jason Roy could bag the opening slot along with McCullum but it will be very important for one of them to gauge the pitch conditions before going all out against the bowling.
A slow pitch might cause a lot of havoc for their brand of batting, which in turn could expose their middle-order earlier than they would like and without too many on the board.
As far as the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Gladiators are concerned, the presence of Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright should add a lot of spice to their batting. Will both feature in the playing XI though? With Tymal Mills, Nathan McCullum and Thisara Perera also baying for two spots in the side, the Quetta Gladiators selectors have a lot to ponder going into this encounter.
It’s how the domestic cricketers perform for the Gladiators given the absence of really big names except for the captain himself. Umar Gul will look to use this as a comeback chance while there’s left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar, who had a good previous season.
